About Pathology Associates
Over the last 15 years, Pathology Associates of Saint Thomas PLC has grown to six pathologists establishing a reputation for superior reliability and service. We provide pathology services at Saint Thomas Hospital, a tertiary care teaching facility in Nashville, TN. We perform evaluations of surgical, hematological, bone marrow and cytological specimens seven days a week. Our dedicated professionals offer a level of quality that assures you and your patients the accuracy and confidentiality you expect. Our mission is to provide state-of-the-art diagnostic laboratory services as cost-efficiently as possible.
All our pathologists are board-certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. Since pathology is a continuously changing field, each pathologist has chosen to specialize, while maintaining general pathology skills. Additional board certifications, specialized training, and the varied professional interests of our pathologists allow us to offer extensive specialty services which include General Surgical Pathology, Dermatopathology, Gynecologic, Gastrointestinal and Genitourinary Pathology, Transplant Pathology, Immunohistochemistry, Hematopathology, Medical and Gynecologic Cytopathology, Transfusion Medicine, Medical Microbiology and Clinical Pathology/Laboratory Management.
Experienced histotechnologists and histotechnicians staff our histology laboratory and perform services that include:

- Automated Immunohistochemistry
ASCP Board-registered cytotechnologists serve in our cytology laboratory, all at CLIA supervisory levels, and are equipped to offer a full range of gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytopathology services. Rapid response services include the following:
- ThinPrep® PAP Test™
- Fine Needle Aspiration specimens utilizing the ThinPrep® technology
- Brushings, Washings, and Body Fluids utilizing the ThinPrep® technology
- Fine Needle Aspiration Performance of Superficial Lesions
To complement the broad range of services, Pathology Associates of Saint Thomas offers specialized services such as flow cytometry and a broad range of immunohistochemical studies. Cytogenetics, DNA probe-based testing for infectious disease analysis. PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction), Fluorescent in-situ Hybridization (FISH) and other molecular tests are provided through our network of specialized referral labs.
